The Palouse area is the largest lentil producer in the US. Not sure of the exact statistics but we produce/grow a good chunk of the world's lentils. I really enjoy lentils, whether they are the star of the dish or disguised as something else. They are very healthy, fat free and nutrient dense.
At our culinary camp this summer we had some great Indian dishes made with lentils. As the weather gets cooler I will be making curried chicken and lentils. Yum!
It's still summer though and warm. And when I was out watering the plants I noticed how beautiful the roses and clematis are. Jim planted the roses out front this spring and I'm surprised at how big they've grown and the number of blooms. And the smell is heavenly.
